Dermal Fillers

Dermal Filler Treatments

Fillers create volume in areas of the skin that have aged and wrinkled over time. The following areas can successfully be treated with dermal filler to smooth out wrinkles, making the skin appear younger:
  • "Smile lines", "laugh lines"
  • Lip enhancement ("Plump lips")
  • Any wrinkles / fine lines
  • Re-sculpting of cheeks or chin
  • Re-sculpting of nose
  • Nasolabial folds

Liquid Facelift – Dermal Filler and Botox

The new buzz phrase in the aesthetic field is the "Liquid Facelift". A combination of Botox™ and Dermal fillers is used to plump up volume loss and treat fine lines and wrinkles, achieving a smoother, more youthful appearance.

What is Dermal Filler?

There are various types of "dermal filler products". The most commonly used is Hyaluronic Acid. It is a clear jelly-like substance that is injected into the dermis (skin) to treat wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging on the face.

How is Dermal Filler administered?

Filler is given via small injections into the specific areas to be treated. The results are immediate.

How long will the Filler treatment last?

The effect is product dependent, but will usually last from nine months to a year.

You buy filler per syringe, what you don’t use can be kept for a top up at a later date. The shelf life of filler is in excess of a year.

How does Dermal Filler work?

The dermal filler absorbs water (is hydrophillic) and draws water into the cells in which it has been injected. This improves the hydration of the skin and plumps the cells.

The filler itself also occupies space within the skin, filling out wrinkles and lines.

What are the potential side effects of Dermal Filler?

Temporary bruising and swelling may occur at the site of injection; however this normally disappears within 24 hours and settles to create the desired effect.

Adverse reactions have been recorded to hyaluronic acid fillers, but these are very rare. Ensure that a doctor trained in dermal fillers does the procedure for you
