Liquid Facelift – BOTOX® and Dermal Filler

The new buzz phrase in the aesthetic field is the "Liquid Facelift". A combination of Botox™ and Dermal Fillers is used to plump up volume loss and treat fine lines and wrinkles, achieving a smoother, more youthful appearance.

How long do the BOTOX® results last?

The results are usually visible within 7-14 days.

The effects of BOTOX® should last up to 4-6 months, but the duration is client-specific. Repeat treatments and larger quantities of Botox™ tend to increase the duration of the effects.

The longevity of BOTOX® results is also affected by some drugs. Fat burners and drugs increasing basal metabolic rate will decrease the time your BOTOX® will last. It is also important to use good home care products to enhance the effects of your BOTOX®.

Is it safe?

BOTOX® has an excellent safety profile. It has been used for more than 20 years in the medical field treating neurological and ophthalmological conditions e.g. migraines and muscle spasms. There are over 2000 published trials in over 60 countries which highlight the safety of the product.

BOTOX® is contraindicated if:

You suffer from any neuromuscular disease
Pregnant or breast feeding
Blood thinners eg: Warfarin
You suffer from active cold sores

It is important however to choose an experienced DOCTOR and follow post-treatment instructions.

BOTOX® Injection Side Effects

Transient redness, swelling and bruising at site of injection (20 minutes)
Headaches may occur in first 12 hours post injection
Ptosis, drooping of upper eyelid, is a rare side effect and technique dependant

BOTOX® Aftercare

Do not rub the injected area immediately after the procedure
Avoid lying down for 4 hours after your injection
We also advise you not to exercise for 24 hours after a BOTOX® injection
You may continue with your usual skin care regime and make-up may be applied

What is the cost of BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is quoted per unit used. This varies according to the area treated and the sex of the client. Men on average use 1.5x more BOTOX® than women as they have greater muscle bulk. At The Aesthetics Centre we charge R60 per unit.

What is BOTOX®?

Botulinum Toxin Type A is a complex purified protein produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum of the A strain.

The Aesthetics Centre uses only the original BOTOX® - no generic products are ever substituted.

How does it work?

A tiny amount of BOTOX® injected into the muscle, blocking the receptor that responds to the impulses from the nerve thus relaxing the muscle and giving the face a relaxed, wrinkle free appearance. It is the relaxation of the fine muscles of the face that leads to wrinkle reduction.

BOTOX® only works on dynamic wrinkles, not static lines.
